چکیده
Background and Objectives: Symptoms of Budd-Chiari syndrome (BCS) are often nonspecific or even absent; as a result radiographic imaging plays critical role in diagnosis. The diagnosis is profoundly dependent on modern radiological techniques, depending the detection thrombosis and/or stenosis hepatic veins upper portion inferior vena cava. This study was hence conducted to evaluate BCS.Materials Methods: prospective 40 patients diagnosed with BCS over period three years. Patients history frequent abdominal pain, ascites, hepatomegaly, fever, encephalopathy variceal bleeding were included. All underwent tests like ultrasonography, computed tomography scan, magnetic resonance (MRI). Results: A total patients, an average age 35.13 ± 15.19 years, included our study. There no significant difference size liver spleen estimated by techniques; however, type margin better identified MRI. caudate lobe-to-right lobe ratio, distribution enhancement patterns, intrahepatic collaterals, cava parameters, ultrasonography spectral findings between modalities.MR venography found be at identifying different patterns right, middle left veins. Conclusions: Not only does MRI identify stages potential complications, these added advantage radiation exposure reproducibility findings.

imaging presentation of budd-chiari syndrome
budd-chiari syndrome is caused by the obstruction of the hepatic venous, with high mortality rate in nontreated cases. because the clinical presentation of this syndrome is nonspecific, is very important. contrast enhanced multiphase computed tomography (ct) and magnetic resonance (mr) angiography permits morphologic and functional assessment of liver changes in suspicious clinical setting. the...
متن کاملA Rare Case of Budd Chiari Syndrome in a Child
A 7-year- old male child presented with the complaints of tense abdominal distension and swelling over feet since 1 month. The patient had repeated episodes of similar complaints since last two years with partial or complete relief after taking various forms of allopathic therapy. On imaging, Budd-Chiari syndrome was diagnosed which was hallmarked by occluded Inferior venacava (IVC), caudate lo...
متن کاملBudd-Chiari Syndrome
Budd-Chiari syndrome (BCS) is a rare condition which occurs when there is obstruction of the hepatic veins. It includes any condition in which there is obstruction to venous flow from the small hepatic veins to the inferior vena cava. It should be differentiated from veno-occlusive disease in which the sinusoidal epithelial cells of the hepatic venules are damaged; this mainly occurs after stem...
متن کاملBudd-Chiari syndrome.
Budd-Chiari syndrome is the generic term for different forms of hepatic venous outflow obstruction resulting in a clinical picture of portal hypertension and hepatomegaly. Three levels of venous outflow obstruction may be recognized, affecting respectively the small intrahepatic (IVC). Each level of obstruction is related to a different aetiology. Clinical manifestations range from mild symptom...
متن کامل[Budd Chiari syndrome].
Primary Budd-Chiari syndrome is related to thrombosis of hepatic veins or the terminal portion of the inferior vena cava. This rare disease is usually caused by multiple concurrent factors, including acquired and inherited thrombophilias. Half of the patients with primary Budd-Chiari syndrome are affected with a myeloproliferative disease, the recognition of which is largely based on the assess...
